West Nile Virus Found in Town of Saratoga

A Ruffed Grouse bird was recently found dead on Cahill Road in the Town of Saratoga.  The bird was tested on September 18th for the West Nile Virus and was found to be positive.  This is the first bird to test positive for West Nile Virus in both the Town of Saratoga and Saratoga County.

A Great Blue Herron was found dead at the Saratoga National Historical Park in the Town of Stillwater on October 5, 2006.  The bird tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Residents that are out doors in areas that are infested with mosquitoes are encouraged to use insect repellent.

Once we have a killing frost this year, most of the danger will be eliminated.  If you have questions or concerns please call the Saratoga County Department of Public Health at 584-7460.
